BT is one of the world’s leading providers of communications solutions and services with a revenue of approximately £19.5 billion in 2005/2006. Its principal activities include networked IT services, local, national, and international telecommunications services, and higher-value broadband and Internet products and services. On 31 March 2006 at the conclusion of the 2005/2006 financial year, 87% of BT's revenues were derived from operations within the UK, where BT is the largest communications service provider, serving over 20 million business and residential customers with more than 28 million exchange lines, as well as providing network services to other licensed operators.
